Organic Edamame Beans Green Hokkai are much loved by vegetarians as they are high in protein and have a firmer texture compared to other bean varieties. Green Hokkai are a space-saving variety, you can expect 3 beans per pod.
 
Sow directly in May, 5cm deep, 15cm apart (45cm apart for rows) 2-3 seeds together for best results. Thin seedlings to one if neccesary. 
 
Choose a sheltered position that gets full sun as Edamame beans need a long summer and lots of sunlight to thrive. It's a good idea to cover them with a cloche, fleece or similar to help them germinate. 
 
Edamame beans require lots of water so water during dry spells, consider mulching the ground around the plant to improve water retention.
