Peppermint (Mentha piperita) is a perennial herb that has very fragrant, dark green serrated leaves and produces tiny mauve flowers that beneficial insects love.

It has a strong mint flavour that makes a wonderful tea that is said to help with nausea and indigestion.

It has a very refreshing taste and is often used as a seasoning for beans, peas and potatoes in the summer. Mint also has a place in indian and mediterranean cuisines.

Sow the peppermint seeds from March onwards in a propagator or somewhere warm.

The seeds should be sprinkled over a tray of damp compost and placed in a polythene bag to keep the humidity up.

Germination can take up to 20 days.

When seedlings are large enough to handle, pot on to small pots, a few seedlings in each pot.

Harden off and plant out from May, after all risk of frost has passed.

OUR SEEDS ARE SPECIALLY SELECTED FOR UK CONDITIONS AND SOURCED FROM ENVIRONMENTALLY RESPONSIBLE, SOIL ASSOCIATED ORGANIC GROWERS.

ALL OUR PACKAGING IS 100% RECYCLABLE, BIODEGRADABLE AND COMPOSTABLE.
