Saladin is a popular, large, crisp Iceberg/crisphead lettuce variety that produces dense, dark green heads that stands well when ready.
Sow under cover Feb-March. Sow direct from April after danger of frost has passed.
Sow seed thinly 1cm(½ in) deep in drills 30cm(12 in) apart. Ideal temp. 4-16°C.
When seedlings are 2cm tall thin to 25cm. Can sow under cover in autumn for overwintering. Successional sow at 14 day intervals.
Can be harvested at the leafy stage, or left to mature until the hearts form.
