Lollo Rossa is an attractive, curled leaf lettuce with a superb red tinge to outer leaves. The colour of the red is much deeper and intense when grown outside instead of under protection.
Ideal for cropping from May to September.
Sow under cover Feb-March. Sow directly from April after the danger of frost has passed.
Sow seed thinly 1cm deep in drills 30cm apart. Ideal temp. 4-16°C.
When seedlings are 2cm tall thin to 15-20cm.
If using for cut and come again, thin to about 5cm apart.
Can be sown under cover in autumn for overwintering.
Successional sow at 14 day intervals.
Can be harvested at the leafy stage, or left to mature until the hearts form.
