Cosmos have bold brightly coloured flowers that have a long flowering period and bring pops of red, pink and white to your garden or allotment. These half-hardy annuals are easy to grow and self-seed, so will come back on their own (though birds also like the seeds too!).
Cosmos plants attract lots of wildlife including bees, birds, butterflies, insects and moths, the flowers have pollen rich nectar that is good for supporting wildlife.
To Sow
You can sow Cosmos seeds from as early as February in propagators or pots once temperatures reach 16°C. Once large enough, and the last frost has passed these seedling can be hardened off and moved to their final spot.
You can sow directly from May (after last frost), place seeds 5mm deep and cover, keeping seeds 25cm apart.
Cosmos will produce more flowers if fed every 2 weeks once buds appear. You can use Tomato fertiliser for this.
You can expect your Cosmos plant to flower between July until October.
Our seeds are specially selected for UK conditions and sourced from environmentally responsible, soil-associated organic growers.
All our packaging is 100% recyclable, biodegradable and compostable.
