Snowball is a compact, pure white, early type of cauliflower that is very versatile and can also be used for spring, summer, autumn and winter production.
It was first bred in the 1890’s and is still a firm favourite for the veg plot/allotment.
The plants are compact and produce superb quality 15-18 cm (5-6 in) solid heads that freeze very well.
 
For Spring/early summer harvest (May-June) sow seeds Aug - Sept in seed bed or modules 1 cm (½ in) deep. Then transplant to 45 cm (18 in) apart undercover in a polytunnel or under a cloche
 
For Summer harvest (Jun-Sept) sow seeds Jan-Mar under cover in seed trays or modules.
Harden off then plant out at 45 cm apart in rows 60 cm (24 in) apart.
 
For Autumn harvest (Aug-Oct) sow seeds Mar-May in drills 1cm deep in a seed bed and transplant when large enough to handle 45 cm apart, rows 60 cm apart.

For Winter harvest (Dec-Mar) sow seeds May-Jun same as above.
