French Beans (Phaseolus vulgaris) are half-hardy annuals with a long cropping season.

Beans are a good source of Vitamin A and freeze well.

 

Cobra is a very popular variety. A vigorous climber that produces lots of stringless, long, straight, round, green pods over a long cropping season with resistance to Bean Mosaic Virus.

 

Sow from March-April in pots undercover, May-June direct outdoors.

Sow seeds approx. 2cm deep.

Once danger of frost has passed, gradually acclimatise plants before planting out at about 20cm apart.

Direct sow beans from May at 2cm deep, 20cm apart and rows spaced 60cm apart.

 

Keep plants well watered, especially during hot and dry conditions.
